The official first phase lineup for Ultra Music Festival 2015 has been announced, and it is loaded to say the least. The three day event which will be held in Miami, Florida is one of EDM’s biggest festivals of the year, and this year’s edition will be held on Friday the 27th, Saturday the 28th, and Sunday the 29th March. Electronic music icons Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, David Guetta, and Tiësto are among the headliners along with relative newcomers Skrillex, Avicii, and a number of underground artists too. In total there are over 100 different artists advertised on the poster and 3 stages where the various sets will be performed.
This year marks the 16th anniversary of the festival which has been running since 1999 and has evolved and grown significantly over the years. Last year’s edition had roughly 160,000 people in attendance, but the largest crowd ever was seen in 2013 when over 330,000 people patronized the event. As has been the case for a number of years the event will be held at Bayfront Park, Miami. However, unlike in past events a minimum age limit has been instituted this year. So if you’re under 18 years old you won’t be able to get in. The age limit announcement was made by the festival’s organizers last September with safety and security being among the main reasons for the new rule.
“While we sincerely value the incredible ongoing support from our younger fans, we ultimately believe that Ultra Music Festival is a premium event geared towards adults,” read the statement. “This decision has been made to reinforce and promote the safety of all Ultra Music Festival fans and to ensure the overall enjoyment of all future attendees. We are extremely grateful for all the support we have received from our younger fan base to date, and we encourage them to attend the festival once they reach the appropriate age. Until then, our free YouTube stream, ‘ULTRA LIVE’ is available worldwide for everyone, all ages to enjoy and to share in the Ultra experience.”
If you want to buy tickets to the event you can head over to the official UMF website, but you’d better hurry because tier 1 and tier 2 tickets are sold out. Only tier 3 and VIP tickets are remaining. In anticipation of the festival a countdown clock has been placed on the UMF website. You can watch the phase one lineup trailer in the YouTube video at the bottom of the page to get an overview of what to expect at the festival.
