French producer Madeon has released the third single from his soon to be released debut studio album ‘Adventure’. The new single titled ‘Pay No Mind’ features American group Passion Pit. The track was initially announced last week and then announced again by Madeon via social media a few hours before its official release on Monday the 9th of February 2015. It premiered on The Fader and it’s currently instantly available for download for anyone who has already pre-ordered ‘Adventure’.
The track has a feel and tempo that doesn’t stray too much from the album’s first single “You’re On” which is a good thing because it points to an album which is pretty uniform, however it might be too soon to judge. A section of the song which uses the stuttering technique, in the style of ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’, has elements which are noticeably influenced by France’s most iconic house music group Daft Punk. Maybe it’s a nod to the group or just a coincidence. Whatever the case it sounds quite good.
“Pay No Mind is one of the earliest tracks I wrote for the album,” Madeon told Fader. “I’ve been a huge Passion Pit fan for years so they came to mind right away. I wanted some extra guitars on the song and reached out to Sam from Two Door Cinema Club (I met them after producing their last single). It’s one of those songs that came together very naturally. I love it because it reflects a lot of my influences, from electronic sounds to 70’s Wurlitzer keyboards,” he said. You can listen to the track in the SoundCloud widget below.
The collaboration with Passion Pit is a clever one as it may help Madeon to garner in new fans. The song also has enough commercial appeal to warrant a lot of radio airplay. Whether an accompanying music video will be released for the track is not known at the moment. “You’re On”, the single which preceded ‘Pay No Mind’ managed to chart in Belgium as well as in the USA on the US Dance chart though not very high on both charts. It has since been remixed by Gramatik and endorsed by Madeon himself who posted that he loves Gramatik’s remix of the track on his Facebook page.
Passion Pit, who provide a brilliant vocal performance on the track, is also scheduled to release their new album titled ‘Kindred’ in April this year. If you’re not familiar with Passion Pit you can watch one of their videos titled “Constant Conversations” at the bottom of the page. Madeon, like most EDM producers/DJs, is on the festival circuit. He’s scheduled to perform at Abroadfest which will be held in Barcelona, Spain. The festival will take place between the 5th and 7th of March 2015 and will be spread out over different clubs on all 3 days. Madeon will headline the opening night at club Razzmatazz. He’ll most likely play some of his newer tracks since the appearance will be just a few weeks before his album is officially released. He’s also schedule to perform at one of the biggest if not the biggest festival of the year, Coachella in April. He’ll head out on a 22 day North American Tour shortly after his album is released.
