Skrillex Reveals That Jack Ü Project Will Be Released Soon

An official Jack Ü project has been in the making for quite a while and it seems that 2015 might be the year which sees the project actually drop. During an interview with Billboard Skrillex revealed that he and Diplo have worked on 10 songs and they’ll release a mini album or EP. All the songs won’t be released just yet even though work on the tracks is supposed to wrap up this week. He said that some of the tracks will be saved for later in the year. As to why he and Diplo decided to work on a collaborative project, he said that the two artists have styles which complement each other well. During the interview he also said that fans should expect new music from the artists on his OWSLA label this year.

Other than the Jack Ü project Skrillex has been named as one of the potential collaborators on Toto’s comeback album, Toto XIV which might also feature a collaboration with What So Not according to a Facebook post on Toto’s page. The group did confirm that they’re not “going dubstep” but they experimented with the clashing styles and it was a “great experiment that worked”. The year 2015 is shaping out to be a very busy one for Skrillex who’s scheduled to perform in various parts of the world before flying back to the USA to take part in the Holy Ship! in Miami, Florida next month alongside Fatboy Slim, DJ Snake, Basement Jaxx, Matt Zo, and Baauer to name a few. The dubstep boy wonder will also perform at Lollapalooza in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil and in May he’s set to headline the Hangout Music Festival. That’s a pretty stacked schedule, especially considering it’s only within the first half of the year. It’s safe to assume that he will play some of the songs from the yet to be released Jack Ü project. One can only wonder if the duo will schedule a tour to promote their project once it’s released in it’s entirety. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Skrillex, always a busy man, also performed at the 2015 Winter X Games a few days ago in Aspen. He played a 90 minute set which featured a mix of music from various genres, most notably EDM and hip hop. He threw in some of his own tracks, Diplo’s tracks, and a Jack Ü track. Other songs came from Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar, Rae Sremmurd, and A$AP Rocky to name a few, which showed the relationship that hip hop and EDM have had for a while and has grown significantly with EDM adopting the trap style into a sub-genre and hip hop artists incorporating elements of EDM into their tracks.
